Laser didn't work

When laser stops working, electrolysis finishes the job.

Blonde, grey, red and fine hair, hair on darker skin, and stubborn hair that keeps coming back. Electrolysis doesn't rely on pigment, so it treats every hair laser left behind.

It wasn't you

Why laser didn't work for you.

Laser works by aiming light at the pigment in a hair. The darker the hair and the lighter the skin, the better it works. When that contrast isn't there, results fall short.

Light hair

Blonde, grey, white and red hair have little or no dark pigment for laser to target, so the light passes through without affecting the follicle.

Electrolysis treats any colour

Fine hair

Soft, fine hairs often don't hold enough pigment to absorb the laser's energy, so they stay behind after treatment.

Electrolysis treats any thickness

Darker skin

When skin and hair are both dark, laser settings often have to be turned down to protect the skin, which can make results less complete.

Electrolysis is safe on every skin tone

Hormonal hair

Hormones keep switching on new follicles, so hair laser reduced can return, and new hairs can appear in the same area.

Laser vs electrolysis

Reduction, or removal.

Laser is approved as permanent hair reduction. Electrolysis is the only method the FDA allows to be called permanent hair removal.

Finishing what laser started

Laser and electrolysis can work together.

Laser isn't a bad choice. For large areas of dark hair, it can thin things out quickly. Electrolysis then picks up every hair that's left: the light ones, the fine ones and the stubborn ones.

If you've already had laser, you're often a step ahead. There may be fewer hairs to treat, which can mean shorter visits. The hairs that survived can be stubborn, so we choose the technique that suits them.

Good to knowIn a small number of people, laser can trigger new hair growth near the treated area. Electrolysis treats those hairs too. Tell us at your consultation when your last laser session was, and we'll plan around it.

What most clients experience.

Every plan is set at your first visit. Here's how treatment usually unfolds, whether you're starting fresh or finishing after laser.

Weeks 1 to 2

Clear

Longer visits to clear the whole area once. You won't see a difference in growth yet.

Up to month 8

Reduce

Regular visits to catch regrowth. By the end, hair grows back slower, finer and less dense.

Months 9 to 24

Live your life

You're barely thinking about your hair, and book a visit as new hairs grow in.

Best hair removal experience I've ever had. Kelsey is extremely knowledgeable, friendly and a master of her craft. Saw incredible results from the very first treatment. Super safe and effective for darker skin tones. This has helped so much with dark spots and ingrowns as well. Highly recommend!

After laser questions

The questions everyone asks.

Can I have electrolysis after laser?

Yes. Many of our clients come to us after laser. Tell us when your last laser session was at your consultation, and we'll plan your first visit around it.

Will it be faster because I've had laser?

Often, yes. If laser thinned the hair, there are fewer hairs to treat, which can mean shorter visits. The hairs that are left can be stubborn, so your plan is set at your first visit.

Does electrolysis work on grey, white and blonde hair?

Yes. Electrolysis treats the follicle directly instead of targeting pigment, so it works on every hair colour, including grey and white.

Is electrolysis safe on darker skin?

Yes. Because it doesn't rely on the contrast between hair and skin, electrolysis is safe and effective on every skin tone.

Should I do laser first?

It depends. For large areas of dark hair on lighter skin, some clients find laser a useful first step before electrolysis finishes the job. For light, grey, red or fine hair, electrolysis is usually the better place to start. We're happy to talk it through.

Why did my hair come back after laser?

Laser reduces hair but rarely removes all of it. Hormones, untreated follicles and hairs that were too light or fine for laser can all mean regrowth. Electrolysis treats each of those follicles for good.
